Mr. Wakabayashi(M1)’s work on an air-stable hexa-NHC iron(II) complex has been published in Inorganic Chemistry, entitled “Air-Stable Fe(II) Hexa-N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complex and Its Photoexcited State Dynamics.”
We synthesized a novel, air-stable Fe(II) hexa-NHC complex using triazole-based ligands, which stabilize the Fe(II) state due to their specific electronic donor properties and shift the MLCT absorption into the UV range. While the excited-state lifetimes remain in the picosecond range, the complex’s high stability under ambient conditions establishes a promising platform for developing future iron-based photosensitizers.
