About us

In molecular science, one of the goals is to control the spatial arrangement of individual molecules, organize them into higher-order architectures, and induce dynamic and cooperative functionalities.  At the Physical Coordination Chemistry Lab, led by Prof. Masaaki Ohba, Associate Prof. Ryo Ohtani, Assistant Prof. Benjamin Le Ouay, we aim to design and construct new systems in which physical properties and functions are intricately coupled. Here we focus on coordination compounds, which are hybrid compounds where inorganic and organic components are integrated at the molecular level.

Our research targets include coordination polymers (CPs) and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs)—multidimensional architectures formed by the regular linkage of metal complexes, as well as metal–organic cages (MOCs) possessing hollow structures. We explore the emergence of novel properties and functionalities by constructing new systems based on these compounds and their composites.
